First week back to work + Website launch, August thoughts

First week back to work + Website launch, August thoughts

What a crazy month August was, what was supposed to be a week or two break turned into a month. It's always hard to tell whats going to happen in life, it comes at you fast.

The reason I took the whole month off was because of a health scare with my senior dog Rick. Anyone who has pets know emergencies always happen at the worst times. We rushed to the emergency and he had to be admitted for the weekend, to be on pain meds, monitored, and be first in line to be seen Monday. That weekend was probably the worst weekend of my life. Long story short he had an abscess behind his eye, or thats what the vet called it because it was too risky to get a sample where it was located. He came home Monday with a bucket of meds and the hope that if they work it was just an abscess and nothing worse. I'll stop rambling but he's better now and for a moment it was a few hard days of worrying what would happen if he couldn't recover, if I would have to make a difficult decision.

I had tried to work a few times that week and a half but every time I got in the studio my head wasn't clear and all I did was make mistakes. Once we got the all clear for Rick it was a huge relief and felt ready for work.

Putting the vet aside I think I had an amazing August, I tried to fit in all the things I wanted to do this summer, that I hadn't yet had the chance to. Bike rides, swimming, rollerskating, hanging out with friends. On the topic of wheels I finally started to skate board, something I have been putting off since I was a teenager. Always too scared to be a beginner or look bad doing it. I met a lot of awesome people through the Tiohtiake Skate Club, and had fun being a beginner in a safe environment.

Back to the website, getting it all ready and started was a hell of a lot more work than I thought. I definitely understand why a lot of people hire someone to do their website. The back end stuff to get everything in the place you want and do the function you want it to do is a lot of work. I'm really glad I had a friend to help with everything or i'd be lost. I was always hesitant to have a website, mainly because of how customizable in colours my bags are. How the hell was I going to get a system going for that without talking to each customer? I think i got a pretty good system figured out now and I'm glad this platform is so customizable itself.

I'm so glad to be back to work, with a clear head, and rested hands.
