September thoughts

September thoughts

Wow! September is already over? I feel like I say that every month but this month really flew by. For most of the month I was busy catching up and finishing all the site orders. I really like the flow of working from home with the website. Getting to work Monday mornings and organizing all the orders I’ll be cutting and sewing for the week. Then come Friday finishing everything up, packing bags, and shipping out orders. I’ve really gotten myself into a weekly routine but hasn’t been easy. Working from home has been pretty tough to keep myself on track, I’m quite low energy by nature and naps are always so tempting when my bed is so close.

This month was jam packed, I really feel like it was the last kick off of summer for me. Every weekend was filled with activities to enjoy the last bit of sun we are having. I also met and climbed with a lot of new people this month. I’m really glad to have made the time to climb this month with friends. When work gets busy it can be really hard to get to the gym and climb. The closest gyms are all 25min drive for me, that is with no traffic. It’s not always the easiest to just get up and go climb when the gyms aren’t so close.

I took Gus out to mont Royal for the first time, it was actually a bit of an experiment in his training to see if he would be able to handle it. I haven’t touched much on Gus on my socials but he’s a little fire cracker of a pug that I adopted last fall. He’s very under socialized in the outside world, and reactive to seeing dogs and sometimes people. Despite all that he’s come so damn far in his training and it shows. He did amazing at the mountain and was barely reacting to dogs. If anyone has a reactive dog you know how stressful it can be out in public. Side note if anyone in the mtl area ever wants to go for a walk on the mountain with our dogs let me know!

Coming on the end of the month on September 30th was orange shirt day and the first truth and reconciliation holiday here in canada. It was really amazing seeing all the orange shirts on everyone around especially in Kahnawake. Seeing all my non native friends and people I follow on social media posting and supporting was also really amazing. Although there was a few local and Canadian companies that were radio silent which was disappointing to see.

With October now here, I’m really looking forward to this month. It’s already started off as a busy one. Website has slowed down but wholesale orders are coming in fast. I’m also prepping stock for an event where I’ll be a vendor mid October. I’ll be taking a little trip, no dogs, for the night of the event. I haven’t travelled without dogs in almost four years! I’ll also be trying to design a backpack this month. I’m going to be investing in some new fabrics for this line of bags, which will limit the colours I’ll be able to offer. I’ve also got some fabric stashed that I’ve been meaning to use to make a base layer sweater, let’s see if I’ll be able to get to it.

p.s. October is my birthday month, I’ll be turning 29 this year!
